WASHINGTON (JTA) — The U.S. House of Representatives approved legislation that includes an additional $2 million for U.S.-Israel energy cooperation.
The funds approved last week are the second appropriation for a program outlined by the U.S.-Israel Cooperation Act, which was sponsored by Rep. Brad Sherman (D-Ca.).
"This is an important step in our efforts to cooperate with a partner that has a proven record of innovation in the field of energy research," Sherman said. "Israel should be viewed not as a place of tsuris [trouble], but rather as a place where hope, energy and ideas are generated."
