JERUSALEM (JTA) — An internal Fatah Party memo reportedly says Palestinian hopes in the Obama administration "have evaporated."

The Associated Press reported Tuesday that it obtained an internal document of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’ political party that accuses the United States of backtracking on important issues to Palestinians, including a building freeze in the settlements and a clear agenda for restarting peace talks.

Issued by Fatah’s Office of Mobilization and Organization, the memo said that Obama "could not withstand the pressure of the Zionist lobby, which led to a retreat from his previous positions on halting settlement construction and defining an agenda for the negotiations and peace," the AP said.

The memo also emphasized that Israel must freeze settlement construction and agree to a clear agenda before peace talks can resume.
