JERUSALEM (JTA) — Israel sent a humanitarian aid delegation to aid victims of floods and mudslides in Colombia.

The Israel Defense Forces and Israel’s Ministry of Defense sent the delegation on Sunday to provide medical care and services to victims of the intense floods and mudslides. About 50 houses and as many as 100 people are believed to be buried under debris from the mudslides brought on by one of the South American country’s worst rainy seasons in decades.

Seven officers from the Home Front Command were among the delegation, which carried approximately 50 tons of equipment, including 20 tons of dry food, medical kits, blankets, ponchos, mattresses and tents.

IDF had sent an aid mission to Haiti when a major earthquake struck the Caribbean nation in early 2010 and established a field hospital there.
