No Ambiguity

Gary Rosenblatt ends his piece on Peter Beinart by stating that Israel defenders ignore the moral issues and Israel critics ignore “so many others” (“Pushing Morality, A Victim Of Myopia,” March 23).

But Rosenblatt and other Beinart critics, like Daniel Gordis, don’t ignore the moral issues: they simply have no response to them.

However, for those of us who believe the only endgame for a democratic Israel is a two-state solution, there is a moral position to take. That is to condemn all forms of settlement expansion outside Jerusalem. No unilateral withdrawals, no boycotts, simply condemn settlement expansion. There should be no moral ambiguity on that subject. Rosenblatt and Gordis should be bold enough to say so.
