NEW YORK (JTA) — Hadassah has named Janice Weinman its new executive director and CEO as it continues to investigate three top officials for misuse of funds.

Weinman, who now serves as president of Kids in Distressed Situations, a children’s charity, will become the executive director of Hadassah, The Women’s Zionist Organization of America, on June 18. She will replace Morlie Levin, who left Hadassah nearly three years ago and is now the CEO of Birthright Next.

Weinman has been a board member of the Hadassah Foundation and also served as Mount Sinai Hospital’s vice president for external affairs.

Hadassah is investigating its president, Marcie Natan, and its former national president, Nancy Falchuk, following accusations that the two misused the organization’s assets. The organization also is investigating chief operating officer Larry Blum for misuse of his corporate credit card.

The probe of Natan and Falchuk began in February, and the investigating commission intends to release its findings soon, according to a spokeswoman. Blum has been on administrative leave since his probe began last fall. Natan is still Hadassah’s president.
