Young Omri Casspi keeps his promise (NBA.com)

Thank you to our friends at Abbanibi who discovered this gem — a short report about the Omri Casspi Basketball Clinic in Cleveland, where the Israeli hoopster teaches local kids some hoop fundamentals.

In the video, Casspi talks about his path from Maccabi Tel Aviv to the NBA, and about his experience reuniting with Anthony Parker in Cleveland after having played together for Maccabi (Parker wears jersey number 18 for chai, Casspi doubled him with 36). The video also features footage of a young Casspi outside Madison Square Garden in New York, saying “Mom and Dad, I promise you when I get to the NBA I will play here and you will come to see the game.”

Casspi was drafted with the 23rd pick in the 2009 NBA draft by the Sacramento Kings and had an impressive rookie season with an average of 10 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. Since being traded to Cleveland, his playing time has decreased and scoring has dropped to about 7 per game.
