The U.S. Embassies all over the world started a Twitter campaign called “50 States in 50 Days” (#50in50), and each day one state is featured, and the tweets include state facts, links and quotes from famous locals.
This morning, the lucky state was Michigan, and to commemorate the Great Lakes State, all U.S. Embassies, including the one in Tel Aviv, decided it is appropriate to quote one of Michigan’s most famous sons, Ford creator Henry Ford. Alas, whoever decided to tweet the quotes “Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently” and “If everyone is moving forward together, then success takes care of itself,” probably forgot that in addition to being the developer of the modern automobile and an, umm, inspirational speaker, Ford was also a pretty rabid anti-Semite.
Ford was known for hating Jews, he even published the book “The International Jew: The World’s Problem” in the early 1920, where he kept citing “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion.”
So far the Tweets are still on the U.S. Embassy’s main page, but perhaps we should we thankful for the embassies for publishing these quotes and not, as Wonkette suggests, quotes such as “If fans wish to know the trouble with American baseball they have it in three words—too much Jew.”
