(JTA) — The Lebanese Army defused a rocket located in southern Lebanon aimed at northern Israel, the third caught before launch this week.
The rocket was discovered on Thursday morning, according to the Lebanese newspaper the Daily Star.
Two similar rockets were fired toward Israel on Wednesday but landed inside of Lebanon, according to the newspaper. On Monday, two long-range rockets located less than a mile from an Israeli military site on Mount Hermon in the Golan Heights were discovered by the Lebanese army and diffused.
It is believed the rockets aimed at Israel were in solidarity with the Gaza Palestinians under siege from Israel’s Operation Pillar of Defense, which ended Wednesday evening with a cease-fire.
Several Palestinian groups operate in southern Lebanon, though the border has been quiet in recent years. The Iran-backed terrorist group Hezbollah is also based in Lebanon.
