(JTA) — Dylan Farrow, the adopted daughter of Woody Allen and actress Mia Farrow, in an open letter reasserted her claims that Allen sexually assaulted her when she was 7.
In the letter published Saturday in The New York Times, Farrow detailed the assault that she said took place in 1992 in a dim attic in the family’s Connecticut home.
Farrow, who is married and living under a different name in Florida, also recounted other instances of sexual abuse.
“When I asked my mother if her dad did to her what Woody Allen did to me, I honestly did not know the answer,” she wrote. “I also didn’t know the firestorm it would trigger.”
Farrow’s story, which Times columnist Nicolas Kristof had written about previously, came up again after Allen was honored with a lifetime achievement award at the Golden Globes last month.
During the broadcast, Ronan Farrow, the biological son of Allen and Mia Farrow, tweeted, “Missed the Woody Allen tribute — did they put the part where a woman publicly confirmed he molested her at age 7 before or after Annie Hall?”
The tweet led to renewed discussion of the alleged incident. Allen was investigated on child molestation claims but not charged.
“Woody Allen is a living testament to the way our society fails the survivors of sexual assault and abuse,” Dylan Farrow concluded in her letter.
