JERUSALEM (JTA) — Two Jewish teenagers were stabbed by an Arab assailant while walking to the Western Wall.

The teens, reportedly both 17, were attacked late on Saturday near the Damascus Gate, which leads to the Old City’s Muslim Quarter. The teens were headed to the Western Wall for a night of Torah study in honor of the Shavuot holiday.

An Arab resident of the Old City, age 19, was arrested hours later at his home after being identified by police in footage from security cameras set up in the area. Police discovered the knife believed to have been used in the attack and other items linked to the incident in the alleged assailant’s home.

At least a dozen attacks have been carried out in the Jerusalem area in recent months, including car rammings and stabbing attacks.
