(JTA) — Hundreds of Bosnians rioted outside the hotel where the Israeli national soccer team was staying, throwing smoke grenades and chanting “Palestine.”
Bosnian police were deployed along the route taken by the Israelis from the hotel in Zenica to the stadium in that city for their Euro 2016 qualifying match against the Bosnian squad on Friday, the Times of Israel reported.
During the game, the Bosnian fans chanted anti-Israel and anti-Jewish slogans. They also stepped on an Israeli flag before the start of the match in a city about an hour from Sarajevo, The Jerusalem Post reported. Bosnia won, 3-1.
