About 1,600 Jewish displaced persons left Italy for Israel in the second half of January, it was reported here today. Ninety percent of the passengers were of Polish origin while the others came from Bulgaria, Iran, Egypt and Austria.

A new assembly center for refugees en route to Israel via Italy has been established on an island near Venice. All Israel-bound vessels now embark the bulk of their passengers at Venice, while additional pickups are made at Bari.
