A close ally of Iran’s president described the convictions of 10 Iranian Jews on espionage charges as “rational and equitable” and expressed confidence the convictions would not affect Iran’s relations with the international community. Hossein Mussavi-Tabrizi also said President Mohammad Khatami would continue his “policy of detente” with the West.
