A community-wide Weekend of Conscience starting Friday night was announced Tuesday to protest Syria’s violation of the Geneva Convention in refusing to exchange prisoners of war with Israel. Church services, a special appeal in more than 100 synagogues, newspaper advertisements and a 24-hour student vigil will highlight the weekend, according to Benjamin S. Loewenstein, Jewish Community Relations Council president.
