A Georgian fresco in Jerusalem was defaced weeks before the former Soviet republic’s president is slated to visit Israel. Georgia’s envoy in Israel called on Jerusalem police to catch those responsible for vandalizing the fresco of the medieval Georgian poet Shota Rushveli, which is on a wall of a Greek Orthodox monastery in Jerusalem’s Valley of the Cross.
