A man accused of trying to blow up a plane last year with explosives in his shoes said he was driven by anger over Israel’s treatment of Muslims. Richard Reid, a British citizen and convert to Islam, told FBI interrogators he traveled to Jerusalem in June 2001 and was angered to see “Jews with guns” at the Al-Aksa Mosque, an apparent reference to Israeli police guarding the entrance to the Temple Mount.
