A Mississippi school board voted to uphold a policy prohibiting a Jewish student from wearing a Star of David symbol to class. The policy forbids students from wearing anything that could be construed as a gang symbol. The parents of the student, Ryan Green, had appealed the decision, saying it was a symbol of religious expression, but law enforcement officials reportedly told the Harrison County School Board that such symbols could potentially make rival gang members turn violent.
