A predominantly Muslim region of Russia is a model of religious tolerance, the U.S. ambassador to Russia said. Alexander Vershbow made the comments during a visit to the city of Kazan in Tatarstan last week after meeting with the leaders of the local Jewish, Muslim and Russian Orthodox communities.
