A U.S. congressman wants to change military aid to Egypt into economic aid. Rep. Tom Lantos (D-Calif.) wants to change $570 million of Egypt’s military aid in the Foreign Operations Appropriations bill, being considered by the House of Representatives on Thursday, to economic aid, because there is no reason for Egypt to continue to build up its military, he said.
