A woman is assuming the chairmanship of the Netherlands Zionist Organization for the first time in its 75-year history. Sophie van Emde succeeded outgoing NZO chairman Salomon Cohen this weekend during the 71st annual conference of the organization. Cohen is planning to leave The Netherlands to settle in Israel. Miss van Emde was previously chairman of WIZO for many years and before that held the post of Honorary secretary of NZO.
