According to reports reaching the National Conference on Soviet Jewry there are no longer any synagogues in Chamelnitaki, in the Ukraine, where there were once 20. There is no minyan and a single room is rented for those few Jews attending High Holiday service. Some 10,000 Jews live in the city.
