An Israeli activist is attempting to help a rabbi accused of pedophilia avoid a trial in the United States. Herut Lapid, who has worked to rehabilitate hundreds of Israeli convicts, is hoping to cut a deal with prosecutors in New Jersey under which Rabbi Baruch Lanner would admit guilt, bypass a trial that could lead to U.S. jail time and instead undergo treatment in Jerusalem, according to the New York Jewish Week.
