An Orthodox Jew is on Democratic presidential candidate Al Gore’s short list for a running mate, according to The Associated Press. Gore’s advisers said Sen. Joseph Lieberman would help the Democratic ticket distance itself from President Clinton because the senator from Connecticut was one of the first Democrats to criticize him during the Monica Lewinsky scandal.
