An upcoming symposium will examine whether German writer Thomas Mann was anti-Semitic. The symposium on the author of “The Magic Mountain” is slated to take place in Berlin on Sept. 5-8, coinciding with the start of Rosh Hashanah. American and German scholars will speak at the conference.
