Anti-Nazi activists marched throughout Germany on Saturday, a day after the German Cabinet approved $35 million in spending over three years to support youth programs that fight racism, anti-Semitism and hatred of foreigners. Extremists in eastern Germany had marked the anniversary of the death of Rudolf Hess, Hitler’s deputy, by hanging banners and posters declaring Hess a “martyr for peace” from bridges and buildings.
