The Zurich Court of Appeal has confirmed the decision of the District Court acquitting a correspondent of the Israelitsche Wochenblatt who had been charged with slander for an attack on H.L. Servettaz, editor of an anti-Semitic periodical.

Confirming the lower court’s decision, the appeals court declared that the defendant’s criticism of the plaintiff had been justified in view of the deliberately defamatory anti-Semitic articles published by Servattaz. The court rejected a civil claim for compensation brought by Servattaz and ordered him to pay the trial costs and compensation to the defendant.
