Anti-Semitic and anti-German demonstrations took place here during the Rosh Hashanah services. The demonstration occurred after a meeting of Czech nationalists which was called to protest against the exhibition of German talking pictures in Czech movie houses, the anti-Semites utilizing the opportunity for demonstrating against Jews, insulting individual Jewish passers-by and shouting, “Down with the Germans! Down with the Jews! Long live Czecho-Slovakia!” The police finally dispersed the demonstrants.
