Artur Rubenstein, world-renowned pianist, has established a $10, 000 fund to encourage talented young Israel pianists, he disclosed in an interview here.
Mr. Rubenstein told the American Jewish World that the new Rubenstein Fund will award a prize of $1, 000 every two years to an Israel pianist attaining designated standards of proficiency. The winning musicians will also appear as guest artists with leading American orchestras. A committee of judges to handle the awards is now being established, Mr. Rubenstein said.
