The Agudas Israel World Organization has submitted a memorandum asking the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization to include in its projected declaration for the “protection of cultural property in the event of armed conflict” a provision protecting places of religious worship and study. The Agudah memorandum cited Nazi destruction of Jewish property used for religious purposes as reason for specifically protecting such property in the future.
