Austria’s newly-elected President, Adolf Schaerf, was one of the guests at an Israel Independence Day reception given by Israel Ambassador Bentsur. Mr. Bentsur toasted President Schaerf, who speaks Hebrew fluently and who was supported by Jewish voters. Foreign Minister Leopold Figl toasted the State of Israel and Premier David Ben Gurion.
