Authors Oppose Copyright Convention Because of Nazi Violations

Because of repeated Nazi violations of treaties, particularly with respect to “non-Aryans,” the Authors League has reversed the stand it maintained for twenty years to record its unqualified opposition to American adherence by the Berne Copyright Convention.

The League’s new position was announced yesterday by George Creel, president, at a hearing of the House Patents Committee on the Duffy Copyright Bill, which provides for adherence by the United States to the convention.
