Brazil Slow to Act on Refugee Plan

The negotiations which James G. McDonald, League of Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, has carried on with the Brazilian government to provide for the settlement there of Jewish refugees from Germany, have so far not proven successful, it became known here upon Mr. McDonald’s return to Buenos Aires.

The High Commissioner is now drawing up written proposals for submission to the Brazilian government. The negotiations conducted in Rio de Janeiro were limited to an exchange of views only, it was explained here. The Government of Brazil has so far not revealed its attitude toward the projects suggested by Mr. McDonald.
