Philip P. Bregstone, Jawyer and author, died suddenly Sunday at his home at 5130 Dorchester Ave. Cerebral hemmorrhage was the cause. He was 67 years old. Funeral services were held today.
A native of Lithuania, Mr. Bregstone came to Chicago as a boy. He studied at the Lake Forest College of Law and was admitted to the bar in 1897. He served as assistant city attorney during the administration of Carter H. Harrison and was assistant probate judge from 1911 to 1919. He formerly was an instructor in promerly law at North-western University.
Mr. Bregstone was active in civil and social organizations. Several months ago he published a book, “Chicago and Its Jews,” dealing with the cultural history of the race in this city.
He is survived by his widow Anne Rosenberg Bregstone, two sons J. Milton and Daniel H. Bregston, and two daughters, Mrs. Rochelle Livingston and Mrs. Irma Green.
