Britain and Iran agreed to exchange ministerial visits for the first time since the 1979 Islamic Revolution. British Foreign Secretary Robin Cook said after meeting at the United Nations with his Iranian counterpart, Kamal Kharrazi, that the Iranian diplomat would visit Britain before the end of the year and that he would visit Tehran next spring. “We have today marked a further significant step forward in our relations,” Cook said.
