Chancellor of the Exchequer Hugh Butler today refused in Commons to grant Israel a credit extension for the purchase of various smoked and processed fish sold by Britain.
The question was raised by Conservative M. P. Robert Boothby and supported by several other members. Mr. Boothby urged that in view of the need for such food in Israel and the value of such trade to the British fish Industry the government should extend credit arrangements from six months to a year. When the Chancellor refused, Mr. Boothby said he would raise the matter again.
