Cardozo’s Manuscripts Presented to Prof. Assaf, Israel’s Supreme Court Justice

Two original, hand-written manuscripts of the first decisions handed down by the late Justice Banjamin Cardozo, while on the U.S. Supreme Court Bench, were presented here last night to Israel’s Supreme Court Justice S### Assaf at a reception tendered in his honor by the American Friends of the Hebrew University, Under the chairmanship of Mrs. Edward Jacobs.

The manuscripts, a gift of Louis Prashker, Professor of Law at St. John’s University, will eventually be transmitted to the Library of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Prof. Assaf who is a member of the faculty of the Hebrew University, was greeted by Dr. Israel S. Wechsler, eminent neurologist and president of the American Friends of the Hebrew University; Prof, Milton Handler of the Columbia University; Prof. Seul Lieberman of the Jewish Theological Seminary and others. He appealed to American Jews for increased interest in the Hebrew University.

Professor Assaf has been named Visiting Professor of Jewish History at Yeshiva-University, it was announced today by Dr. Semuel Belkin, president. He will offer’s concentrated course in the University’s Graduate Division beginning May 17th. This course is being made possible through a grant by the Department of Education and Culture of the World Zionist Organization.
