Prime Minister Winston Churchill declared himself a “Zionist from the days of the Balfour Declaration” in a message of greetings cabled last night to a celebration in Carnegie Hall here of Israel’s fourth year of independence. The cable, which was read by his daughter, Miss Sarah Churchill, said: “As a Zionist from the days of the Balfour Declaration, I have watched with admiration the courageous efforts of Israel to establish her independence and prosperity. May this and future anniversaries be celebrated with growing confidence and goodwill by Israel’s many friends throughout the world.”
