The Bavarian Restitution Office is currently processing 800 compensation claims a month filed by victims of the Nazis, Max Froberg, head of the agency, today told a meeting here of the State Council for Freedom and Justice, a Bavarian Non-Communist organization of Nazi victims.
He said he hoped to have the agency eventually process 1,500 claims a month. He announced that 145,000 compensation claims had been filed in Bavaria.
Addressing the same meeting, Bavarian Minister of Finance Friedrich Zieps reported that less than $5,000,000 had been paid out to Nazi victims during the 1952-53 fiscal year sum of $7,000,000 appropriated. He stated that in the current budget $8,800,000 had been appropriated for this purpose.
