That a number of municipalities have recently circularized a large number of trades and industries with a questionnaire asking whether Jewish capital is invested in them and whether they have Jews on their staffs, was revealed here in a letter from Nazi Commissioner of Industries, Wagener, to the chairman of the political department of the Nazi party, Fiedler, who is also mayor of Munich.

Wagener points out in his letter that the circular caused a disturbance in the economic situation which he said was harmful although it was motivated by the best purposes.

“The enterprises,” he said, “even if foreign capital is invested in them, or if they are conducted by non-Germans, must not be destroyed, but compelled to act as German, namely in the spirit of general utility.” He requested Fiedler to use his influence in preventing distribution of similar questionnaires in future, simultaneously pointing out that naturally, municipalities are expected to order their supplies only from German firms.
