The Rabbinical Council of America, an organization of Orthodox rabbis, today opened its annual mid-winter conference here to discuss problems concerning Jewish life in the United States and religious problems in Israel.
The conference will pay particular attention to the recent outbreaks of vandalism and desecration against Jewish houses of worship. It will receive reports from rabbis whose communities and synagogues have been subjected to such acts of desecration. It will further seek to assess whether these are the work of individuals of low mental and emotional calibre or whether they are the result of an organized macabre plot designed to destroy the world’s democratic institutions and principles.
