Countries meeting to discuss Palestinian economic development committed more than $700 million in aid for Palestinian economic projects in 1998. The money is part of the more than $3.5 billion program pledged to the Palestinians in 1993. The 40-odd countries, meeting under the auspices of the World Bank, also called on Israel to help the Palestinian economy.
