The zoning board of adjustment of Cheltenham Township, a Philadelphia suburb, yesterday approved the erection of a synagogue designed for Congregation Beth Sholom, despite the protests of some residents.
The structure will be erected in suburban Elkins Park next to Beth Sholom’s community center. At a public hearing last August the board heard protests that the building was unsuitable for its location and that it would create parking problems.
