Decree Second Fast when Torah is Dropped Yom Kippur

The Jewish population in the town Vrable Slovakia. observed a second Yom Kippur on Thursday.

The rabbis decreed a fast day because the Torah Scrolls taken out of the Ark for the reading of the appropriate chapter at the Neila services, were accidentally dropped. Jewish stores were closed all day Thursday and a twenty-four hour fast was observed by the congregation.

B’Nat Jerhurun Community Center of New York City will be formally opened on October 7th. Dr. Israel Goldstein, Rabbi of the Congregation, will officiate.

An art exhibition will be held at the Center during the month of October. During the exhibition a bust of Mayor Walker will be unveiled. The bust is now in preperation by Enrico Glicenstein, who hopes to have it ready for exhibition soon.

Mrs. Nettle Goldsmith Naumburg, widow of the late Aaron Naumburg who died on June 29th at Montecatini, Italy, arrived in New York Friday on the “Roma,” with the body, which will be buried in Mount Pleasant Cemetery on October 2nd.
