Dr. Dushkin is Named Head of New School in Palestine

Dr. Alexander Dushkin, former head of the Board of Jewish Education in Chicago, and now Professor of Education at the Hebrew University will head the new secondary school at Beth Hakerem, it was announced here today.

The new school is being established jointly by the Department of Education of the Kenesseth Israel, on whose behalf Dr. Dushkin will be in charge of the school and the newly organized Department of Education of the Hebrew University. The parents of the pupils will also share in the management.

The new secondary school will consist of six classes, for pupils between the ages of 12 and 18, who have completed the fifth grade of the elementary school. The first three classes of the new school, corresponding to grades 3, 4 and 5 in the gymnasia of the Realschule at Haifa, will be opened on September 18. Registration of pupils is already in progress.

The school will also serve as an observation base for the pedagogy students at the Hebrew University and at the teachers’ Seminary.
