Dr. Mordecai Kaplan Honored on His 70th Birthday; His Role in Jewish Life Cited

Jewish leaders from all walks of life last night honored Dr. Mordecai Kaplan, founder of the Jewish Reconstructionist movement, on the occasion of his 70th birthday, at a dinner at the Waldorf Astoria.

Former Judge Simon H. Rifkind, who was chairman, emphasized the role which Dr. Kaplan played in aiding the development of Jewish culture and education in the United States. A book containing tributes to his career was presented to Dr. Kaplan. Among the congratulatory messages was one from Dr. Chaim Weizmann, President of Israel.
