Dr. Zan D. Klopper Dies in Chicago

Funeral services were held yesterday for Dr. Zan D. Klopper, 62, physician and artist who died suddenly at his home here. He was an attending surgeon at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital.

Dr. Klopper was born in Russia. As a youth he studied at the School of Liberal Arts at Odessa. Coming to this country, he continued his studies at the Chicago Art Institute and later returned to Europe to study in Paris and Rome Dr. Klopper undertook the study of medicine and was graduated from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in 1910.

For several years Dr. Klopper collaborated with the late Dr. John B. Murphy in writing and illustrating of medical textbooks. He was well known for his medical paintings, which were in demand by leading medical schools in this country and in Europe. He was highly regarded for his ability as a portrait painter and water color sketches. Several years ago Dr. Klopper served as a Cook County Coroner’s physician. Surviving him are his widow, Mrs. Tillie Klopper, and two sons, Leonard and Robert.
