Cairo police guarded the main synagogue here while thousands of Jews attended Yom Kippur services yesterday. It was reliably learned that the guard was provided to prevent Arab provocations and incidents as a result of the tense atmosphere which is developing here in the wake of the preliminary statements in the Palestine debate at the United Nations.
