Egypt’s top antiquities official said he would appeal a court ruling that would remove an ancient Jewish tomb from a list of protected monuments. The court had ruled that a government decision in January to register the tomb of Rabbi Ya’akov Abu Hatzeira as a monument was a “serious violation of the law.”
