President Eisenhower indicated to a press conference today that he will determine if steps beyond his request in the State of the Union message are necessary to bring about revision of the McCarran-Walter Immigration Act.

The President was asked by Milton Friedman, Washington correspondent of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, if he would ask the Attorney General to make specific recommendations to implement the revision of the Act as requested in the State of the Union message. The President said: He had made the recommendation to Congress. Now, whether there was any other step that was necessary he would have to look up and see whether he should.
