The New York Daily News today published the results of an investigation indicating that at least one of the alleged documents contained in the German White Book was a forgery.
Using parts of one of the 16 documents radioed to the United States–the purported letter of Jan. 16, 1939, from Polish Ambassador Jerzy Potocki to Foreign Minister Josef Beck covering an alleged conversation with American Ambassador to France William C. Bullitt–the News had three independent translations made which showed that the document was in a Polish so poor it could hardly have been written by a diplomat and that it even contained words which do not exist in the Polish language.
